Featured: Editorial - Shades of Grey Inspired

Last January an incredible team of vendors, BSC Photo and I teamed up for a sexy, wintery, "grey tie" themed editorial photoshoot. We are so excited that this shoot was featured in the Fall/Winter 2014 Issue of Connecticut Bride as well being featured the the fabulous, beautiful and incredibly curated Reverie Gallery yesterday! Be sure to check out the feature - its beautiful and the RG ladies really know how to flatter a gal ;)

To kick things off - As I always love to do - below is the inspo image from the image which was part of the info package sent to vendors:

“Black tie” is so classic and always the definition of sophistication and elegance. Very often black tie is so consumed with tradition that events and décor lack individuality, which inspired us to combine black tie elegance with the sexy mysteriousness of the color grey. Our “shades of grey” inspired photo shoot at the ultra exclusive Patterson Club located in the Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield, Connecticut was intended to combine the regal elegance of a black tie event with the sexy connotation of “shades of grey” accented with a jolt of color through the persimmon to add a bit of personality and playfulness.

The tablescape décor sat nestled at the foot of a double grand staircase, complete with floor to ceiling molded walls and rich and modern wenge floors. For a rich and opulent look we layered three different linens with grey tones and patterns with coordinating sheer chair jackets adorned by the clear Lucite chivari chairs. Mismatched silver vintage china from Borrowed added an interesting yet formal look to each place setting, along with a persimmon rimmed champagne flutes that also served a place card holder. Floral arraignments from Fleurescent, sublimely captured the black tie formality with the spirit of grey’s unpredictability through the eye catching persimmon jolts of color.

Because we were inspired by the of the hybrid of tradition and youthfulness of this project we decided “why have one cake when you could have five?” Lovely Cakes created a tablescape of five different cakes with varying tiers and designs that could make even the most disciplined salivate for a slice. A few of elements of the photo shoot that we absolutely adored were the modern translucent acrylic chandeliers by Nicole Ketchum and the custom light projection menu by Shindig Lighting.

Our bride wore two dresses that embodied the theme perfectly from the conservative and classic ceremony gown to the sleek and extremely sexy reception gown, an exclusive design for the Plumed Serpent. With creative direction from Matt Branscombe of BSC Photo, the bride, groom and bridesmaid models used the richness of the Patterson Club as inspiration for fashion forward portraits that we believe could tell an unspoken story….

I love this image. Alison of the Plumed Serpent nailed the styling on this one. Absolutely sublime.

I am SO obsessed with this place setting. Metal, leather tied forks, a little sparkle, lots of linens, a unique place card idea, and super for flowers.love.
